ABOUT
The person behind the screen.
Some may call me a programmer, a writer, a friend. But few know my story.
I was born and raised in the Golden Isles of Southeast Georgia, where I found joy in a wide variety of interests. Whether it was spending an evening outside, being with the people I cherish, playing music, writing stories, or building something new, I have always been happiest when I have an opportunity to create and explore.
That desire to create has followed me for as long as I can remember. It was never really about being seen, for I simply loved the idea of making something that another person could experience and appreciate. Over the years, that creativity found its way into writing, music, and eventually technology.
I was first introduced to programming in high school through HTML and CSS. Being able to write something on a screen and watch it become a webpage fascinated me. That experience eventually led me to pursue Computer Science at Georgia Southern University, where my interests expanded into software engineering, machine learning, computer systems, and cybersecurity.
During my undergraduate studies, I worked on projects ranging from traditional software applications to machine-learning research. One of the most meaningful was DeepMedSeg, a deep-learning medical image segmentation project that contributed to our team earning 1st Place at the 2026 CEC Research Symposium. Experiences like these showed me how the things I build can extend beyond the code itself and solve interesting, real-world problems.
My growing interest in cybersecurity also led me to create Vigilo, a security and moderation system designed to help protect online communities. Vigilo combines machine-learning classification, OCR-based analysis, access controls, automated enforcement, and security automation to identify potentially malicious content. Building it allowed me to bring together several of my interests: security, software development, machine learning, and the challenge of designing something useful from the ground up.
In May 2026, I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my B.S. in Computer Science. A few months later, I began pursuing my M.S. in Cybersecurity and Privacy at the University of Georgia. My graduate studies are allowing me to explore cybersecurity at a deeper level through areas such as computer networks, operating systems, privacy, and security-focused research.
Technology, however, is only one side of who I am. Long before graduating with a Computer Science degree, I was telling stories. I am the author of the Samuel Parker novel series, beginning with Samuel Parker and the Legend of Prisoner IX. The story follows Samuel after he is forcibly taken to the ARC, a futuristic mobile nation hidden beneath the ocean, where he finds himself trapped in a world of secrets, danger, and rebellion. It is hope that one day, I will have these stories published to be shared on shelves.
Writing the Samuel Parker series has been one of my longest-running creative projects. In many ways, writing and programming satisfy the same part of me: both begin with an idea and require patience, problem solving, revision, and a willingness to keep building until that idea becomes something another person can experience.
Outside of my academic and technical work, I enjoy playing saxophone, learning languages, traveling, and spending time with the people important to me. My interests may seem varied, but they are connected by the same curiosity that first drew me to both storytelling and programming: I enjoy learning how things work and creating things that did not exist before.
